“Stay Rural” project, working on the idea of a new rurality, creating welcoming and attractive territories

We present the “Stay Rural” project, working on the idea of a new rurality, creating welcoming and attractive territories. The first insight to emerge comes from the survey “For a long-term vision of rural areas” asking LAGs to identify key drivers for rural development. LEADER would be the engine, people would be the fuel: L(ocalness) as in identity, E(mployment) as in economic development, A(ttractiveness) as in tourism and access to services; D(igitalisation) for a smart transformation; E(nvironment) against climate change and the uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources and R(elations) as in rural/urban linkages. You will discover the voices of young people from remote communities, with the Association “Riabitare l’Italia”, an NRN partner in a youth participatory research action in the 72 territories of the Italian Inner Areas Strategy. We will hear about the experience of a rural hub working with NRN_Rural4Learning project to build a community of changemakers (young entrepreneurs, students, experts) to support social innovation in rural areas.
